Beautiful, Affordable Loudspeaker Cabinets
One of the major stumbling blocks for the DIY loudspeaker hobbyist who has neither the tools, workspace,
inclination or patience to build enclosures, or who simply wants to leap into the design process, has been the
availability of enclosures that are on par with those in the audio salons and magazines. Here is a selection of
beautifully finished and sturdily braced cabinets designed for two-way monitors, or the popular MTM/WTW
oriented cabinets also known as D’Appolito, that will certainly fulfill anyone’s performance and aesthetic
expectations. A very cool feature is the removable bolt-on front baffle. If you intend to experiment with
different drivers, damping and stuffing, port lengths, or want to have easy access to tweak your crossover,
just continue to bolt the baffle in place until you’re satisfied with the result. The subwoofer enclosures are
similarly bulletproof, except the baffle is permanent, and the finishes are all textured black matte enamel.
Accessibilty to the interior shouldn't be a problem since you'll be removing a woofer from 10" in diameter
and up. If there isn’t a compulsion to do a design that requires a grandiose, esoteric enclosure (I’m not
picking on horn or transmission line types, I’m one myself), or there’s an overriding concern about retaining
limbs and digits, or both, do yourself a favor and check out these outstanding enclosures. You will need the
dexterity, though, to cut your own driver, port and terminal holes, or have them professionally done.
