Vinyl Rescue
Record, Cassette and Reel-to-Reel Tape Transfer and Restoration
Serving the Three County Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor areas
Despite the advances in digital recording and reproduction, interest in analog reproduction continues to grow.
We don’t think that it is a phenomenon that can be passed off as merely reactionary or nostalgia. There are
a lot of reasons for interest and enthusiam; the miracle of a stylus floating along the grooves of a record
and creating sensational sound; the beauty, engineering and fascinating synergy of turntable, tonearm
and cartridge combinations that allow enthusiasts to tailor their listening preferences.
There is no denying the attractiveness and beauty, let alone the legibility, of the large 12” album format.
Enthusiasts still express dissatisfaction and skepticism with the attention to detail, or lack of, in the transfer
of many analog recordings to cd, and many older recordings either haven’t been or never will be reissued.
Of course, there is the subculture that wants to hear recordings played back the way it was “back in the day”,
surface noise and all.
In the wake of this interest there's been a proliferation of record cleaning technologies, software and cd recorders
to remove the surface noise of whatever severity and archive favorite records to cd. Not everyone has the time or
inclination to undertake this time consuming activity, so we jumped into the fray with Vinyl Rescue.
We offer a thorough physical cleaning with a professional record washing machine, a transfer with or without
tracks, optional noise reduction, choice of poly-lined paper sleeve or jewel case, and either a digital reproduction
of the original album cover, or if unavailable, to compose original artwork. We transfer 16, 33, 45 and 78 rpm
discs, cassette and reel-to-reel tape with high end turntables, electronics and software. We're music and audio enthusiasts and professionals. Every job we've evaluated has been unique, so rather
than just list rates, we'd rather see what your individual needs are. Our philosophy is the minimum intervention
necessary to get the result. If electronic cleaning is involved, there isn’t any point in altering the recording to the
point where all of its original qualities are smoothed over, or worse yet, artifacts left behind by over-processing
are worse than the “disease”. If the source is too damaged for an acceptable restoration, we’d rather turn it away
instead of disappointing our customer and have a poor result damage our reputation. It’s a matter of noise reduction,
not elimination, although the outcome can sometimes be astonishing. We can't perform miracles, but we'll do the
best possible job considering the condition of the recording. We apologize to those who might be interested in
our service outside the Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor area.
